Oil on wood, 60 x 54 cm. 2000.

This painting is the first in the triptych dealing with Man in conflict. In these works Kolby portrays three persons from different continents, all of them wearing a golden jewelry. The young African man in this painting bears a series of machine-gun bullets as they were a traditional African necklace of gold or animal teeth.

The beauty of the shining brass projectiles is striking and in contrast to the meant use of them, as they lay around the neck of the tormented man as a symbol of the devastating terror war is.
