Oil on wood, 52 x 39 cm. 1996.

In this self-portrait Kolby depicts himself inspired by the orthodox Jews' tradition of two thick merges. His gaze is intense, and the frontal position makes the whole of the painting symmetrical, static and calm. The expression in the artist's face is a troubled one, and the seriousness may bring the spectator's thoughts onto the grave, religious appearance of the orthodox Jew.
