Acrylic on board, 30 x 24 cm. 2002.

In this highly closed up study, Kolby has focused on the expression possible with one eye only. With half the woman's face covered by her hair, she appears mystic with a brief smile on her lips. Is her eye swollen? Does the spectator witness a victim in this portrait? The artist does not reveal that to the onlooker, but merely suggests that the woman is hiding whatever story she holds.
