Oil on canvas, 150 x 120 cm. 2000.

During his Copenhagen years, Kolby met the conservator Henrik Smith at the Natural History Museum. At the time the conservator was building a life size mammoth and Kolby portrayed him supporting two real 10 000 year old mammoth teeth. Fascinated by the historic remains of the giant elephant, conservator Smith balances the heavy ebony teeth with a sharp gaze as guarding them.
